A friend of mine asked me recently, “do you have ne words of advice for a retired pen artist? i havent picked up a pencil since i left school and these days i get the urge to draw but i cant come up with nuthin. ne pointers?”

From my experience art is something you really have to constantly work art. In a drought, it helps to have a lot of inspiration from artists/art you like to kinda jump start your mind. My response to him follows. However I think I should add that reading helps a lot with drawing and is something that should be on your sketching diet.

“For me I watch plenty artists I like and try to draw things like them. But just keep a little notebook ( a cheap ass notebook and draw things in it, so that if yuh make mistakes you wouldn’t really care).

A good place you can find a lot of artists is deviantart.com”

The more I sketch in my cheap little notebook the more confident I become with my work. It kinda helps to see how you are coming along to with your creations so it feeds your passion and lets it grow.

Life is art. So you are an artist just using a different medium. Sometimes we need to go in to really come out. Pick up a pencil if you wish but remember you are a work of art. Much blessings
